2019 Hexa Chardonnay MAGNUM
Flat Rockers,
A short pre-amble on a very special wine.
Perseverance has paid off for the Madronich family. In 1954, Ed Jr.'s grandfather applied for a winery license and was denied. Yet here Flat Rock Cellars stands, 66 years later. Ed Sr., having grown up in Beamsville, knew the quality potential of the Twenty Mile Bench and kept his eyes open for the right opportunity to realize the family dream of owning a winery. A little serendipity and a lot of hard work brought this generation-spanning vision into reality. The unique Somewhereness of the vineyards is perfectly suited to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes and make up 80% of our plantings. Now 20 years later, the vines are in their prime and they consistently produce wines that receive high point scores and international recognition. It's in our nature to continue to push the boundaries and in doing so we've made something very special about to be bottled for the first time.
Hexa is a natural progression of the 2017 Ultra Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines. They represent a brief moment of reflection on the past, but more importantly a leap forward towards greatness. This is the first bottling of what will become Flat Rock's, and maybe Niagara's, most collectible wine.
2019 Hexa Pinot Noir & Chardonnay Magnums
