2017 Pinot Noir
Our former Head Winemaker and 2021’s Winemaker of the Year, Dave Sheppard, also happens to have a way with words. We stumbled upon this tasting note written by Dave and thought it was too beautiful to alter.
Straight from the Pinot poet’s pen:
The 2017 vintage was blessed with an amazing warm, dry summer. The lack of rain ensured beautiful ripeness to this “heartbreak grape”. Warm days, paired with the cool fall evenings, allowed for slow and even maturity throughout the vineyard. The fruit was picked over a period of two weeks, during which time we were able to capture the bright acidity of the early picks along with the rich fruit characteristics that have more time to develop with the later picks.
This wine is fruit-forward and expressive with cherry and berry aromas on the nose as well as the palate. It’s well-structured and medium-bodied with lengthy and flavourful finish.
This Pinot Noir is showing off!
