2012 Gewurztraminer
Tasting Notes
Bright aromas of ginger and rose petal. Orange rind and grapefruit on the palate with a nippy ginger-spice. This is a pleasingly off-dry wine that will go beautifully with Thai food or anything spicy.Winemaker Notes
The hot, dry growing season in 2012, gave us an opportunity to once again craft a small batch of single-varietal Gewurztraminer. This is a blend of our estate fruit & a vineyard along the Niagara Benchlands. For complexity some batches of fruit were whole-bunch pressed and others were destemmed and cold-soaked to maximize varietal character. The juice was fermented in small-batches of stainless steel barrels and tanks to craft components for the final blend. The sweet character in this wine is natural grape sugars left at the end of fermentation to balance the ripe fruit flavours.Pairings
